Walli Beckwith is an American female astronaut on the space station with two Russian men. She has had a successful career in the military and loves being in space. When an accident takes place the three of them must leave right away. But Walli refuses to leave when the two Russians do. She’s now in serious trouble and still refuses to leave. Whenever she comes home she will have to face charges in many countries. Her reason for saying is because of what’s happening in the Amazon. Mass fires are taking place and she wants the US and other countries to intervine and stop what’s going on there. As the days goe on things there get worse and the US President and Congress are divide about taking action. And things happen on the space station that put Walli’s life in jeopardy and it’s a race to save her and to get the US Government, the UN and other countries to take charge of what’s happening in the Amazon.
An interesting novel that looks at the issues in the Amazon in a thrilling way and shows how one woman will risk her life for the greater good. The space station element fits perfectly in the story.
