It’s Christmastime in 1931 and Poirot is planning on spending it at his London home, with Inspector Catchpool, who has shunned his mother Cynthia’s invite to spend the holiday with her in Munby. Then she shows up at the house, demands they both come for Christmas, and tells Poirot he has a murder to solve. Seems someone has killed Stanley Nivens in the hospital, and the fear is that her friend’s husband, Arnold, who is dying and scheduled to go to that hospital, will be killed next. So they all take off for Munby, and an investigation is begun, with Poirot planning on having this solved within a couple of days, so he can return to London. There’s any number of suspects, another murder takes place, and it becomes clear who the killer is, and he gets all the suspects together and announces who, what, where, when and why. This is another fantastic novel in the series by author Sophie Hannah. I would like to think that Agatha Christie would be so proud of these books.
You can pick up Hercule Poirot’s Silent Night in stores on Tuesday, October 24th from William Morrow.
