Lex McCall has lived in Stove, Vermont her whole life, and has never had the itch to leave. She lives in the house her Grandfather left her, it’s rundown, but it’s all hers. She works at a local bookstore, loves her job and wants to buy the store, after the owner decides he wants to sell, when he finds out it has a ghost attached to the store. James is in town, to film a documentary about the ghost stories that are known around the area. He and Lex don’t hit it off at first, but that changes when she needs a fake date, to get out of having dinner with her visiting parents, who she has a dysfunctional relationship with. They soon hit it off, fall for each other, and she helps with his film, even knowing a lot of what she tells him is fake, she used to have a ghost hunting show on YouTube years ago, where they fake a lot of the content. Lex is worried about James leaving when the documentary is over, and of him finding out about her fake information and effects while filming. Will they both have their hearts broken, or can they figure out how to save their love? A fun, well-written rom-com, that hits all the right notes. Fans of these kinds of novels will enjoy this one.
