The year is 1977 and for Faun Novak it’s a new beginning. She moves from Massachusetts to Los Angeles to reunite with her best friend from High School, Josie, with $400 and her trusty Polaroid camera. She’s always been into photography and hopes to make a career out of it. Faun finds out that Josie is dating the lead singerm Cal, of one of her favorite bands, Holiday Sun. Cal is also paying the rent on the apartment that Josie and Faun are living in. Faun soon gets swept up in the world of groupies, the rock scene, drugs and sex. All along taking a lot of pictures and becoming the photographer of the band. The more she sees and gets drawn into, she starts to want a more normal life. Will she be able to reach her dream before she’s sucked to far into this world. A great debut novel from author Sarah Priscus, who looks at this lifestyle of the time period in very vivid detail. You’re hooked right from the beginning and don’t want to put it down. If you’re a fan of sex, drugs and rock music, this is perfect for you.
You can pick up Groupies in stores on Tuesday, July 12th from William Morrow.
