The year is 1932, and in London Stella Douglas has written her first book, which didn’t sell very well. She’s still getting over the loss of her mother a year ago, and looking after her father. Her published tells her to write her next book about the history of English foods, and what the English like to eat. She takes out ads in the papers, and people write to her with suggestions and ideas. She soon takes to road trips to research various towns and cities, meets Freddie, who turns out to be a dud, and secretly longs for her best friend Michael, who has become engaged. Along the way, she has to reach down deep inside herself, and figure out who she is, and what she wants. Part rom-com, all heart, this is a great character driven novel, and you become invested in reading. It’s a tasty treat (yes, I went there), which will make you hungry reading along.

You can pick up Good Taste in stores on Tuesday, November 7th from William Morrow Paperbacks.
