The debut thriller Framed from Author S.L. McInnis is a good one. It’s filled with twisty moments you don’t see coming and leaves you going wow. If she keeps writing thrillers like this she will be someone to watch in the future.

Beth Montgomery is a music teacher (she use to play professionally) but not just teaches. She’s married to a movie producer named Jay and they are in big time debt. Jay is trying to get his movie financed.

Cassie is her old roommate from school and they share a secretive past. They haven’t seen each other in many years. But now Cassie is on the run from her boyfriend Rick (who is a drug dealer) and has just left a massive shootout where four people are dead (including an undercover cop) and she assumes Rick is. She also has a ton of money with her.

She calls Beth and manages to manipulate her into letting her stay with her and Rick. She needs to lay low and figure out what she will do next. She figures the police will be after her and soon fears that Rick did not die. She plays games with Beth and Rick and is good at getting people to do what she wants.

But then it becomes a game of cat and mouse between the two. They both think the know the other and then a betrayal, a death and a shocking twist and climax to the story that you don’t see coming.

You can pick up Framed in stores on Tuesday, February 4th from Grand Central Publishing.
