Archer Read is 27 and he moved to New York six months ago to try and live his dream of being a dancer. He has gone on a lot of audtions and has not gotten one job. He finally lucks out and gets a job for the summer at the Shady Queens, a gay-friendly resort in the Catskills. When he gets there he finds out his dancing crush, Mateo Dixon, is part of the show, and he’s star-struck. He was a Broadway star until something happened five years ago. Mateo is basically in charge of the dance crew and has a severe attitude. Archer is chosen to dance with him for a few dances during the nightly shows and they sizzle. There’s a sexual chemistry between them. As Archer tries to break down his defenses, backstage turmoil threatens to derail the four-month assisgnment. Archer dedcides he needs to get things back on track and it even might mean a hot tomance with Mateo. This is a very good gay rom-com, with lots of colorful characters and it’s fun to follow along with all the drama and you root for Archer and Mateo to be together. A perfect Memorial day novel.
