In a futuristic time, we have dragon racing, think Nascar or Formula 1 racing. There’s a circuit of tracks where you race your dragon for prizes. When she was little, Asta, wanted a dragon, especially when Felix and his family moved across the street from where she lived. They started a dragon farm, and Asta and Felix became best friends, and she was gifted a dragon, which she named Carmine. After a falling out with Felix, Asta took to the sport, where Felix is king, and she hopes to win the big one that is coming up. The Silverscale Grand Prix. If she can somehow win, it would solve all her problems. She will be up against Felix, who is trying to get their friendship back on track, and they soon become friends again, and more. Asta is in some trouble with one of the people who helps her out, and is asked to do something unthinkable, and it leads to a shocking climax to the story. This is a fun, different novel, part rom-com, with characters you root for, and a love story with two people who want to be happy. The dragons are a hoot, and this is a perfect end-of-summer book.
