The third and final novel in the Griffith series centers on the youngest brother, Carson James, known as CJ to everyone. He’s bitter about his family’s land having been used to create a hotel and restaurant, the only way to save it was this course of action. In a bar in town one night, he meets a fiery woman, Lennon, plays pool, loses $75.00 and bangs her in the hallway. They never exchange names or any information. Then they see each other again at the restaurant on his family’s land, she is the head chef, and a fiery exchange takes place. In the following days, they avoid each other, but neither can’t get the other out of their head. After another fiery exchange where she decks him, they call a truce when he learns about the issues she is having. She has a checkered past, she is trying to put behind her. They soon fall in love, have hot sex, and she settles in and becomes a part of his large family. When her past comes back to haunt her, it leads to a shocking situation, her life in danger, and a surprise marriage proposal. This is another great novel in the series, and it’s a shame it has ended. Author Maggie Bates writes the best rom-coms, full of family, sex and love. I highly recommend this one and also reading the first two in the series. They all read like stand-alone novels, so they can be read in any order.
