Book Review: ‘Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl: A Novel’ By Renee Rosen

The year is 1938, and Estee Lauder is ready to take the world by storm with her beauty products. She’s selling some at a hair salon, when she meets Gloria Downing, the daughter of a man who was just sent to prison, for a pyramid scheme. Gloria has changed her name, and hopes no one knows who she is. She’s also broke, and gets a job at the salon as a shampoo girl. She hits it off with Estee, and they become good friends. As the days, months, and years go on, Gloria gets a job at Saks, and Estee is working hard to expand her business, in Florida, and New York. Their hard work comes at a cost with their personal lives, professional lives, and even their friendship. Both are determined to do things on their terms, and succeed at all costs. This is another great historical fiction novel by author Rosen. She does incredible research, and writes these great novels. Fans of this genre will love this novel.
