Book Review: ‘Fan Fiction: A Mem-Noir: Inspired By True Events’ By Brent Spiner

Part memoir, part mystery, all fun is this book from actor Brent Spiner, known as Lieutenant Commander Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Set in 1991 during the filming of the show, Brent gets a package delivered to his trailer. It stinks and when he opens it inside is a pig’s penis, along with a note from someone saying she is his daughter Lal, a character on one of the episodes that is Data’s daughter. More letters arrive from this person. Soon the FBI is called in and twins sisters Cindy Lou, FBI agent and her sister Candy Lou, provides secruity for Brent. Lots of weird things happen to Brent, we get interactions with his friends on the show, stories about his horrible childhood and some genuine LOL moments. This is the debut novel from Brent and it’s really well-written and a pleasure to read.

You can pick up Fan Fiction in stores on Tuesday, October 12th from St. Martin’s Press.
