Karen Wyatt, an attorney in Portland, Oregon, was framed by corrupt police and district attorneys for cocaine possession, and sent to prison for a year, when her case was overturned. She got her law license back and sued for a lot of money, and is now on easy street. Three years later, she has a thriving law practice and only helps people she thinks are innocent. She has taken on the case of Jack Blackburn, who was found driving a stolen car and was arrested for murdering the owner, Terrence Cogen, who was bashed in the head at the mansion he lived in. As part of the case, she finds potential witnesses who have information that can help her case, who are suddenly murdered, and she knows there is a leak in the DA’s office. On top of that, a Congressman has been kidnapped, who was close friends with Terrence, and he claims it was aliens that took him. It leads to another well-written trial and climax to another excellent legal thriller from author Margolin. He excels with these kinds of novels, and you are never disappointed.
