Whenever Daphne Bell gets a date, a mysterious piece of paper shows up and tells her how long the relationship will last, and none of them have been forever. So she just goes with the flow of each relationship until it is over. She has only told one person about these notes, Hugo, who she dated for three months, and now is her best friend. When Jake asks her out, the note has no end date, so she thinks he could be the one. They date and fall in love, but she has a secret she is keeping from him, and then there’s Hugo, who after all these years is still in love with her. When Jake asks her to marry him, she says yes, but maybe he isn’t the one for her, and then she learns another shocking secret, and now she has to figure out what she wants. This is a really well-written book, with the notes, it adds an extra layer to the story and character, and we learn about her past relationships via flashbacks. You root for Daphne to find love, and want to read along with her story.
