Ernest Cunningham is ready to open his own P.I. office and is meeting with a banker in a small Australian town, hours from where he lives. He goes with his fiancée, Juliette, at the invitation of the bank owner, and while there, the bank is taken hostage by a robber. Ten people are in the bank, and this robber isn’t typical. He lets everyone be chill, and he only wants one dollar out of the vault, which is closed, the code has been changed, and nobody knows what it is. Ernest does what he does best, and starts investigating, when someone dies, he is more determined than ever to figure out what is going on. He soon learns that everyone of these hostages has a secret, and each was planning on robbing the bank on this day. Ernest soon finds himself in danger, and writes down the information as he knows it, and soon figures everything out, if it’s not too late for him to reveal it all. This is the fourth novel in the series, and it’s great. The story, the characters, and the settings all work perfectly here. Author Stevenson has topped himself; this is the best novel yet in the series.
