The year is 1985, and a Russian man walks into the US embassy and Rome and wants to defect to the United States, he’s a Russian spy. He gives information and is whisked to the United States and ends up in Atlanta to meet his love (he plays an important part in the story). Peter Bennett is 14 and is convinced his mother’s new boyfriend, Gary, is a Russian spy. He enlists the help of an author and a drag queen to help him prove it. His mom works at a top-secret company, and one of the workers is found dead she had taken top-secret information about the company. Sylvia Walker is an FBI agent who is on the case of the murdered employee and soon finds a trail of Russian spies throughout the area. Peter soon finds his life in danger, and receives shocking news about what is really going on and who the spies really are. This book is great!!! Filled with pop culture from 1985 and before, it’s a blast from the past. The shocking twists of who all these people are is incredible, and you never see it coming. Ace Atkins has written a masterpiece, and it’s one of the best books of the year.
