Olivia Hincley grew up around hockey in Minnesota; her father, Kevin, was a star player for the Minnesota Freeze until a vicious hit by Erik Parker ended his career. Erik went on to have a great career, while Kevin suffered from complications from his many hits on the ice and died young. Olivia never got over it and vowed revenge against the Parkers. Now, Kevin’s son, Brody, a star player in the league, has signed with the Freeze, and Olivia is determined to ruin his career. Olivia gets a job as the team mascot, and nobody knows it’s her, and she tampers with Brody’s equipment, to no avail. He sees her at the rink and asks her out, and she takes the opportunity to get close to him, and figures out he is nothing like his father, a man Brody has a rough relationship with. The two fall for each other, have hot sex, and she is ready to confess to him everything she has done, until he finds out about her being the mascot and everything she has done. It could be enough to end their relationship, and she decides to make a grand gesture to him in hopes of fixing things between them. This is another in a year of great rom-coms. Falling along with these two flawed characters as they fall in love is heartwarming and fun. You root for them to be together as things are falling apart. A perfect Memorial day beach read.
