It’s Christmastime in New York City, and for Katherine Tate, an attorney it’s business as usual. She’s not a fan of the holiday, since her father died Christmas nine years ago. For her ex-husband Tom, it’s a time he looks forward to every year. He’s off to Chicago, his family, and to propose to his girlfriend. His plans are somewhat derailed when he gets an emergency phone call that Kate is in the hospital, and he’s still listed as her emergency contact. She has a concussion, and stitches in her back, and someone will need to monitor her for a couple of days. She has no one else that can help, so he decides she will come to Chicago with him, and be looked after. They have a very hate attitude to each other. Then all hell breaks loose, they get kicked off their plane, miss their train, their bus crashes, and it’s a long haul trucker they hitch a ride with, and he turns out to be Dr. Phil (and a great supporting character). By the time they reach Chicago, they may figure out they made a mistake years ago. This book is GREAT!. The writing is crisp, told by each character in alternating chapters and fun. One of the best rom-coms of the year.
You can pick up Emergency Contact in stores on Tuesday, October 24th from Blackstone.
