When their father Calvin, summons his three girls for a week’s vacation at the family home in New Hampshire, Mae, Natalie, and Jordan drop everything and return to the home their mother owned before she died. Their father drops a bombshell; he’s selling the house, it’s rundown, and he can’t afford the repairs. The sisters are shocked and angry, but there’s nothing they can do. Over the course of the week, we follow the family and Calvin’s new wife as they pack up the house, reveal hidden resentments, tell secrets about their lives, and learn the real reason Calvin is selling, and they all bond and get closer as a family. This is a well-written, character-driven novel, at its core about family. You get emotionally invested in this family, and this is one you will not want to put down. A perfect summer beach read.
