Tilly Lawson, who likes to speak her mind and it gets people riled up, has her dog, Jezebel, stolen from her backyard and asks Sarah Booth Delaney to find her. Then another dog goes missing from a backyard. Sarah and her partner Tinkie start an investigation and it leads them to a former wrestler and even to the Mayor himself. When both Sarah and Tinkie’s dogs are also stolen, it gets personal. They make threats to the people they think are responsible and soon all the dogs are found. It turns out an old nemesis of Sarah’s is back and part of what’s been going on. She soon finds her life in danger, as well as a big group of dogs, that have been used for dog fighting. Sarah also learns there may be more to the deaths of her parents years ago when she was a kid (a good tease for the next book). This is another fun novel in the series, number 29, that also puts a spotlight on the horrible sport of dogfighting and dog abuse. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
