It’s another typical week in the life of Stephanie Plum, she works for her cousin Vinny, who’s a bail bondsman, and along with Lula, they track down people who have missed their court dates, and get them rescheduled, and it’s not an easy job. On top of that, she gets a call from Martin Plover, who owns a local jewelry store, who has been robbed. He wants her to track down the man who was his security guard, who he thinks robbed him. On top of that her boyfriend Morelli, who has to go to Miami to testify in a trial, and she has custody of his dog Bob, until he gets back. In typical Stephanie fashion, her car gets wrecked, she has fights with the people she is trying to rebook, she has to deal with Lula, whose apartment was bombed, and moves in with Stephanie, and she spends a lot of time with Ranger, the other man in her life. Her life is in danger when she figures out what is going on with Plover, her own apartment is bombed, she’s evicted, and gets asked a question by the two men in her life. I’ve been reading these novels for years, love them, and this might be the best one yet. The writing is crisp, sharp, and LOL funny. It contains my favorite character in any book, Lula, a sassy, full-figured black woman, who loves to eat, is a former ho, and insists on wearing high-heels all the time. There’s no better character in any book, throw in supporting characters like her family, and especially Grandma, and this series just rules. The cliffhanger ending sets up the next novel. This is the 30th novel in the series, and hopefully there can be another 30!
You can pick up Dirty Thirty in stores on Tuesday, October 31st from Atria.
