Queenie B is a famous chef who lived the life of a rock star, drinking, doing drugs and sleeping with strange men, she’s also rich. Her life spiraled out of control, she lost her husband and her child and then vanished. She ended up in New Haven, opened a soup kitchen and living life on the down low, going by her real name of Regina. Gale Carmichael is a chef working his way up the line for Marco at his restaurant. He’s also been sober for almost two years after the overdose death of his best friend Sean, he blames himself for this death and often has conversations with him in his mind. One day when Gale goes into her place to eat they form a connectionm, he starts helping her out and she mentors him, he does not know who she is. He soon gets cast on some cooking reality shows and as the months go by their bond becomes tight and they lean on each other and when Regina decides it’s time for Queenie to make a comeback, their lives will change. This book is great. You follow along with these two characters and you root for them to get everything they want. This is one of the best books of the year so far.
