The novel opens with Nathan WIlde a Green Beret, and his team in Yemen, in a fierce battle, he survives, as does some of his team, and there are a lot of deaths. Forward two years later, Nate has left the service and is now going to school at Harvard, majoring in history and working to get his PHD. He had heard about a legendary lost city, Ubar, and he proposed to try and find it, and is turned down. He decides to look for it on his own. He gets some of his old team together, and off to the Middle East they go. Nate soon learns that a Russian assassin, is after him and has killed others who know about or were searching for Ubar. Now, it is a race against time to stay alive and try and find this hidden city. This is a great debut novel from former Green Beret Dekker, who writes about what he knows. The action sequences are as good as any seasoned writer and the lead character of Nate and his supporting cast of friends have great bromances, and adds to the overall flow of the book. This is one of the best action-thrillers of the summer.
