Emma Finley is 26, single, is close with her mother and not close with her father, who she talks to a few times a year and doesn’t see very often. She lives in New York and has a full-time job in marketing and she is an alcoholic. She has just reached one year sober. When she meets the head of IT, Ben, sparks fly and she might be interested in him, they end up spending time as part of a group planning the holiday party and rumors start flying about her. When her father comes to visit, it goes okay, until she learns after he leaves, that he’s dying of cancer. Emma has a lot to contend with, is determined to stay sober and Ben may be the one to help her along. This is an intense, character-driven novel, as we follow Emma on her journey to stay sober and create a new life for herself. You get emotionally invested in her and want her to succeed on every level.
