Queenstown, New Jersey is where Vandy Myrick was born and lives. She’s still mourning the horrible death of her daughter, she’s trying to keep busy at work, and she’s a PI. Then she runs into her ex-husband and father of her daughter, Phil, for the first time in years. They reconnect and talk about their child and spend a night together, even though he is married and has a son. The next day Vandy learns that Phil was shot to death after he left her house. She’s determined to find his killer and works with the police to do that. She finds lots of potential suspects and shocking reveals and if could be any number of people that shot Phil. She finally figures out who the killer is after a brutal beating, a kidnapping and lots of illegal schemes and has to race to take down the killer. This is a solid second novel in this series. Vandy is a strong, smart female character and the story has lots of twists to keep you engaged throughout.
