The 37th novel in the series finds Hamish hanging with his new love Claire and his animals, happy for a change. Tomorrow his new constable will arrive and hopefully things be quiet for a while. He’s surprised when it turns out to be Davey Forbes, who was here before. When the local pub reopens, Hamish learns that Mick Gallagher has gone missing and he may be involved in illegal activities. When a woman is found murdered, two strange young women where seen driving her car and Detective Blair is back and giving Hamish crap, his life turns into anything be ease. This is another great novel featuring one of my favorite characters in Hamish. The story is well-paced, the chemistry between the characters is good and fans of the series will enjoy this one.
