Book Review: ‘Death Of A Showman: A Jane Prescott Novel’ By Mariah Fredericks

The 4th book in the Jane Prescott series takes place in 1914. Jane has just returned to the states with her employer Louise and her husband from Europe and learns that the man she was seeing before she left, Leo Hirscfield, has married after saying he would never marry. But it’s not to the woman she suggested. He married an actress who will be starring in his new stage production on Broadway. He is a partner with a man named Sidney Warburton, who is not a nice man. He also gets Louise to become an investor in the play. Jane and Louise are regularly going to rehersals and watching the action. Then one night at dinner with a big group at a popular restaurant, Sidney is shot in the mens room. And now everyone is a suspect, especially Leo. Jane decides to start hew own investigation and starts to track down all the players and who it could be. With some twists and turns, the reader is surprised when the guilty person is revealed. These Jane Prescott novels are always a lot of fun to read with well-written characters and stories.
