Author Tessa Wegert has released her first novel Death In The Family. It’s a thrilling start to a new series featuring the character of Detective Shana Merchant. A strong but flawed female character. She’s smart, quick and vulnerable. This first story in the series is a thrilling story with lots of twists and turns and lays the foundation for future stories and a mystery about Shana’s past that will play out in future books.

Shana has moved to the village of Alexandria Bay in New York. She had worked for the NYPD when she was working on a case looking for a serial killer. She got in over her head and was abducted and was luckily found. The man who took her Bram got away but he said they knew each other but Shana didn’t remember. She went into therapy with Carson and when it was over she got engaged to the man and they both moved her. He didn’t want her to go back to work. She’s working with Tim who knew Carson (they grew up together) and they know have a case on a private island.

The Sinclair family has had a family get together and now one of the sons Jasper has gone missing. His girlfriend found him missing from their bed and it full of blood. Shana and Tim are investigating and get out there right before a major storm hits. They start investigating the rest of the family, the girlfriend and the help. Soon secrets emerge, another murder takes place and no one can get to the island to help or get them out of there.

Shana and Tim investigate and interview and Shana suffers flashbacks to what happened to her when she was abducted. Soon Shana figures things out and the question is will she be able to save everyone before it’s too late for anyone else.
