Book Review: ‘Dead Men Don’t Decorate: A Novel’ By Cordy Abbott

The first book in a new series by Cordy Abbott is a delightful and refreshing start to small town mysteries. The story is set in Marthasville, Virginia and features the lead character of Camille Benson, who is 55 and a teacher. When she finds out that the antique store that her parents had opened and owned up till five years ago, she decides to buy it. The current owner is a man named Roberto Fratelli, an old man that everyone in town hates. When the sale is finally over, Camille and her best friend Opal decide to go see it late on a Saturday night and find Roberto dead on the floor and an old letter that had been taped to an antique desk missing. The two women begin investigating on their own, and then another murder takes place and a cop is kidnapped. Camille finally figures out who the murder is and when she confronts the killer, it puts her life in danger. If you’re a fan of small town mysteries, with fun, well-written characters, this book is perfect for you.
