Kit is a San Diego homicide detective and Sam is a psychologist and they are out on a date, hiking in the mountains, when they come across the body of a city councilman, who has been missing. Kit and her partner, Conner, are assigned the case and along with help from Sam, they start their investigation, with more bodies showing up of potential witnesses and suspects. Every time they seem to get a lead, someone else dies. They finally catch a break and are able to track down their suspect and it leads to a showdown and Kit’s life in jeopardy. Her personal life may be heating up, as she and Sam are trying to date when they get the time and she may have news on the death of Wren, from a previous novel. This is the third novel in the series and it’s another good on. The action is fast and furious, the characters well-written and likable and a story that keeps you engaged.
