Roy Grace has a lot on his plate; he is preparing for Brighton Pride, he has to testify in an upcoming trial, and his wife is giving a speech, and they will have a night away at the Royal Courteney Hotel. What he doesn’t know is that Roel Albazi, whom he put in jail, is out for revenge on him. A bomb full of deadly gas is sitting in a fire extinguisher outside of the room he has reserved at the hotel, and set to go off in the middle of the night, and kill Roy and his wife. Before that can happen, word gets to Roy about a strange man at the hotel, and a woman gone missing. They soon find a part of her body, and bring in the suspect, who has a tie to Roel. The night that Roy is at the hotel, he learns that Ruel is out of prison, and he is spotted at Roy’s house, and a deadly showdown takes place. This is the 22nd book in the series, and it’s incredible. Author Peter James has written a master class in how to write a novel that every author should follow. The story is page-turning, the chapters are short and right to the point, with no useless filler. Fans of the Roy Grace series, or anyone new that likes a good thriller, this is a must-read. One of the best books of the year.
