Will Parker has been on vacation for three weeks with her girlfriend Holly, off the grid, with no phones, newspapers or radios. When she gets back she finds the police at the office and home that she shares with her boss, Lillian Pentecost, a famous private detective. She’s being arrested on a charge of murdering the wealthy Jessup Quincannon who was shot to death at his house, who she had issues with in the past and who was going to expose her family’s secret. She was the last seen with him and then she was gone, and it was her gun that killed him, even though it’s still in her office. Lillian is thrown in jail, with no bail, and Will is on the case trying to figure out who the murderer is and why they set up her boss and when the trial is expedited, she has less time than she thought. It all comes down to a shocking reveal at the home of the deceased. This is the fifth book in the series and this one is another excellent novel in the series. The two female leads, their sassy housekeeper and the supporting cast are always a hoot to read. Fans of this series will love this one.
