After the events of the last book, Kurt Argento is lying low, with the law looking for him. He is living in Barton, South Dakota, living in a room under a church, and working as a handyman for the church. He keeps his head down and is staying out of trouble. That is, until Majeri, a Syrian, who lives in town with his mother, is being chased by two men. They claim he stole one of their wallets, but Kurt doesn’t buy it for one second. He soon finds them camped out by Majeri’s home, and after they kill his mother, Kurt is able to save him, and they hit the road for Oakland, where his uncle lives. It doesn’t last long as a new hit team, Kurt killed the first two, are hired and on their tail. When things go south, and the boy is taken, Kurt is going to get him back, regardless of the cost. This is the third novel in the series, and it’s another good one. The story starts off strong and never lets up. All action, all the time. Kurt is a badass character, and the way he is determined to help Majeri is heartwarming and touching. Fans of the first two will enjoy this one.
