Poppy Greene lost her sister Dandelion months ago and has not gotten over her death. When she finds a message from a man named Jake, from a dating app, on her sister’s phone, she responds as Dandelion and meets the man for a date. When they meet, there’s an instant connection, yet Poppy is not sure who Jake likes, her or Poppy. Jake has issues of his own he cheated on his wife, is now divorced, and has a son he sees often. He is looking for someone special with no luck, and has issues from his childhood. When Jake figures out what Poppy is up to, he breaks things off, but neither can get the other off their minds. They both go through personal issues as the story progresses. When they finally reunite as friends, there are still issues between them, and they have to figure out if they can move forward. An intense character-driven novel, with flawed people who have issues they need to address in their lives. It’s a pleasure following along with these two, and hoping they can somehow be together.
