In 1984, Ida, who is 16, wants to leave Scotland and her mother. She ends up getting a scholarship at St. Anne’s in Southeast England. It’s a strict school, and with clicks, and she ends up rooming with Louise, who is a loner and troublemaker. When some of the girls start having strange seizures, nobody can figure out what’s going on. Then there’s new teacher Matthew Langfield, who, it turns out, lied about his past teaching experience. As more girls get these seizures, time is running out to figure out what is going on in this mysterious school. This is a page-turning thriller that you will not want to put down. First good psychological thriller of the year.
