The Longshot Killer has just claimed their third victim, and Michael Bennett gets an early morning call to report to the scene. A sniper is killing these people, and there are very little clues as to who is doing it. Michael gets a new partner, Rob Trilling, a former Army Ranger, who has also worked with the FBI. He’s 24, and not very talkative. He does have ideas on how to proceed on the case. Rob starts to open up a bit, but he is late a lot, caught in some lies, and has medical issues stemming from potential PTSD, and taking sleeping pills. Soon all the evidence seems to point to him, Michael doesn’t want to believe it, and does everything he can to try and clear his name. Soon another man is killed, and a sting is set up to try and capture the killer, and it takes a deadly turn. On the family front, Michael and Mary Catherine may have some big news for the large family. I love this series, and this is another well-written, thrilling novel. Michael Bennett is an awesome character, and this is one book I look forward to every year, and I am never disappointed. You can pick it up now in stores from Little Brown.
