The small town of Hollows Bend, New Hampshire, is a tourist destination on the weekends. Everybody that lives there knows each other and their business. On this morning Deputy Matt is at the diner, as is half of the town, there’s a waitlist for tables. Then all hell breaks loose. A strange young woman appears naked in the diner, crows start dropping down out of the sky and attacking the diner, the internet goes down, cellphones stop working, and only select texts can get through, but nothing out of town, and a mysterious fence is placed up around the town, no one can leave. Matt tries to figure out what’s going on, as the sheriff goes missing and people are dying left and right. It all seems to come down to the naked girl, who does not speak a word and has names on her skin, and as someone dies the name gets crossed out. It all leads to shocking reveals of just what has been going on with this town and a twist you never see coming. This is an intense, page-turning novel you don’t want to put down. I don’t think James Patterson has ever written a bad novel, either by himself or with the authors he teams up with.
