Charlotte is married to Pete, and pregnant with their second child and they have an 8-year-old daughter, Stella, and they live in London. Charlotte is worried about her daughter, she has many issues and she keeps a close eye on her. When their long-time nanny, Blanka, suddenly quits and dies a few days later, concern for Stella rises. She starts acting like Blanka and it worries Charlotte, who starts getting close to Blanka’s mother, Irena, who gives her clues to the final days of her daughter’s life. After she gives birth early, Charlotte is committed for observation and when she escapes, learns shocking secrets about her life and what happened to Blanka and why Stella is acting the way she is. A well-written, psychological thriller, that starts off strong and never lets up, leading to the shocking twist. A good start to the new year of book releases.
