Kate Myles has been having a tough time, she lost her police job, her husband divorced her, she lost custody of her little girl, got addicted to pills, had to move in with her mother, and found out her father isn’t her biological father. She now has a career as a P.I. and has been asked to look into a twenty-year-old cold case, a murder of a teenage girl, and the killer may be related to her, after she takes a DNA test to find her family. While she looks into the murder, she’s also hired to look into the recent death of Abby Colburn, who died during a fire, allegedly set by her brother Jacob. As she investigates she finds shocking details, possible family members, including her biological dad and even a new romance. When she gets to close to the truth, her life is in danger, when she figures out it’s the same person responsible for the old death and the recent death. Told in now and then flashbacks, we follow along with Jacob and Abby’s lives, in a novel you will want to keep reading along. With some well placed twists, this is a good psychological thriller.
