In 2024 the Urban Wars were taking place and a group of 12, calling themselves The Twelve, fought against them, even though there was a traitor in the group. Now it’s 37 years later, and a handful of them are still alive, including Summerset, who works for Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. When one of them, Giovanni Rossi, is called to New York by one of them, he comes no questions asked and is murdered right away in the back of a limo, with an outlawed poison gas. The killer also left an Eve Dallas business card at the scene, except it was a fake. Someone wants Eve on the radar and she’s fine with that. She knows that this killer is part of the Twelve, and is after the rest of the group, which includes Summerset(and we get some great background on the character). It then becomes a game of cat and mouse between Eve and the killer, who she’s able to figure out who he is and it leads to one of the best endings in the 60 book history of the series. This is one of the best books in the whole series. Author Robb is able to use almost every character in the novel, whether it’s a major or minor character. Longtime fans of this series will love this one.
