Author Archer Mayor is back with book number 30 of his Joe Gunther series. Joe, Sammie, Willy and Lester are back investigating the murder of a drug dealer Lyall Johnson and then a thief Alan Robin Hale. They are not alone this time. P.I. Sally is also on a case that impacts Joe’s as well as reporter and daughter of his current girlfriend Rachel. Between all of them they end of breaking the case.

The cases end up being turned over to Joe and the Vermont Bureau of Investigation. At first they have no real leads. There’s a potential suspect Brandon but he is soon cleared. They start going door to door looking for anything anyone might have seen. They get some clues but the death of Alan really starts to open up the case. Meanwhile Rachel is investigating for her newspaper and Sally is hired to work at a Thorndike Academy, an expensive school, looking for potential issues with the people running the school and board-members. Between Sally, Rachel and Joe they get to the bottom of things and it involves how bad things really are at Thorndike and ties together the murders of Lyall and Alan.

These books are great. The characters are a lot of fun especially Willy! I’ve been reading these books for a while now and look forward to them each time. Here’s to 30 more novels.

You can pick up Bomber’s Moon in stores on Tuesday, September 24th from Minotaur Books.
