Detective Mitch Haskell was happy and married with a brand new baby boy named Andrew. Two years ago, she died in her garage; it was ruled a suicide. Mitch knows better; it was murder, and he knows that Roland Malone did it, but he hasn’t been able to prove it. He works with a crime kingpin named Oz, and know one knows who he is. Mitch is doing everything he can to get proof about Malone, and hopefully Oz, and bring down their operation. Mitch has gotten drunk and caused a problem, and now his best friend and boss, Detective John Bowie, at the police station, has given him an choice, go to therapy, or lose your job. He picks Dr. Dylan Reede, who is beautiful, and soon starts flirting with her. Mitch is getting closer to bagging Roland and Oz, and Dylan plays a big role in that. They end up having to go into hiding for a while, passion erupts between them, and when shocking secrets are revealed, it could wrap up the case, and it could also send Dylan running away from Mitch and a new love relationship. This is another classic Sandra Brown novel. She has never written a bad book, and this continues her string of hits. The story, the twists and the chemistry between Mitch and Dylan, and the bromance between Mitch and John, are all top-notch.
