The year is 1925 and prohibition is in full force. For Luna Alvardo aka Rose Lane, who lives in Kansas City, it’s a double-edge sword. She’s half Mexican and white and part witch (and not very good on the witch part). She has to keep her Mexican and witch part of her hidden. By day she works at a newspaper and night manages a speakeasy. The powers she does have, she uses to get men to do things for her. Her goal is to open her own club. When she finally does, she has everyone against her. The mafia, the klan and powerful man who think they can control her and that even includes Al Capone. But she’s not going down without a fight and will do what it takes to keep her business and get the bad guys out of her life. This is her debut historical fiction novel and it’s really good. With well-written characters, the mob, the feel of the 20’s and strong female you root for, it’s perfect fall read.

You can pick up Bindle Punk Bruja in stores on Tuesday, September 13th from Harper Voyager.
