Book Review: ‘Bend Toward The Sun: A Novel’ By Jen Devon

Two people that both have issues meet and fall in love but their past emotional issues might derail this before it can be something special. Rowan McKinnon has a PHD in botany and is working toward getting more education and a firm job offer. She has two best friends and when they all go to the new Brady vineyard for a night of drinking and fun she meets Dr. Harry Brady. They are both smitten with each other and soon feelings and sex begins between them. Rowan has a job at the vineyard helping them restore the vines and the planting. She and Harry both have emotional issues and find it hard to clearly communicate things with each other. Just when it seems like they’re ready to move it forward the past and misunderstandings cause issues. Can they both put things behind them and make it work? A love story for the ages that has you rooting for these two to work out their issues and be together. I wouldn’t call this a rom-com even thought it seems like one. There’s more emotion and connection with the reader, with well-written characters and story.

You can pick up Bend Toward The Sun in stores on Tuesday, August 9th from St. Martin’s Griffin.
