Morgan Carter owns a bookstore in Rhinelander, Wisconsin and one of her employees, Rita Bosworth, comes to her with a request, Rita’s nephew, Andrew, is the prime suspect in the murder of Brandon Kluver, in the North Woods and she knows he is innocent. The two men had their issues and he claims Andrew was killed by a Hodag, a legendary beast rumored to live in the woods, which no one believes. Morgan doesn’t quite believe it but agrees to look into it. Someone doesn’t want Morgan looking into it and she gets threats, which only gives her more determination to find out what is going on in the woods and who committed the murder. This is a fun novel that is easy to read and is a hoot. It’s my first time reading one and I will be back for future novels in the series.
