There are two bookstores, Happy Endings which sells romance novels and is managed by Ryan Lawson, and Tabula Inscripta, which sells literary novels and is managed by Josie Klein, on the same Boston street, with a coffee shop in between them. A new owner, Xander has bought all three businesses and is going to combine both bookstores into one and only one of them will be the manager. He sets up a competition between the two of them and the one that does most sales will be the manager. They do not hit it off at all when they first meet and things get testy between them. Both are also on a book internet site and have been talking to each other, not knowing who each is. They soon become friendlier with each other and start to fall for each other. When Xander makes his decision about who the manager will be, neither one of them is happy about his decision and like all romance books, a grand gesture is made. This is another fun rom-com, with two characters you root for to be together. A perfect summer beach read.
