The small town of Loon Lake is rocked by the alleged murder of pickleball player, and local dentist Bert Willoughby, who was not well-liked. He was shot in what could have been an accidental hunting mistake. Sheriff Lew Ferris is on the case, looking at all the evidence, and trying to figure out if it was an accident or murder. Then another pickleball player, Robin, who was the partner and lover of Bert, is shot as well. Is this a case of taking out the top-rated players, or something else, especially when it’s learned that Bert changed his will, leaving most of his money to Robin, and selling his dentist practice and not telling his daughter, who worked for him. This is one of those fun small-town murder mysteries, with quirky characters that are fun to read, and an easy-to-read story. A by the numbers’ story, with no major twists or surprises. This is the third novel in the series, and fans will be happy with this one.
