Author Elizabeth Breck has started a new series with the character of Madison Kelly, a strong-willed female P.I. in San Diego. She’s smart, sassy and knows how to do her job. The only problem is other people don’t like her doing her job. And know her life is in danger.
Madison likes to listen to true crime podcasts and has been listening to one about the disappearance of two women in the San Diego area. Both cases are cold cases now. She tweets her theories and questions to the podcast people on Twitter. And now it seems she has gotten the attention of someone that doesn’t want it. She gets a note on her front door when she gets home basically telling her to back off or else she will be killed. She has no idea what this is about as she’s not working any cases right now. Then she figures it has to do with the cold cases. She decides she’s going to investigate them.
She starts investigating and interviewing people associated with the two late women. She also has a tail, another note on her door, a bolo alert to arrest her and shocking reveals that put her life in danger. She solves one case but the other is still not clear and when it is it may be too late for her life to be saved.
A solid start to the series with some romantic complications as well. Readers will follow along on this adventure and I for one hope for more of Madison in the future.
