Anne Gallagher is having a tough time lately. Her father has died, and she’s going back home to Mackinac Island, Michigan, for the funeral, without her boyfriend, Chris, who has to work. While there, she sees Joe, her father’s business partner, and a man who hurt her when she was 17 at the prom. When she returns home, she learns she is suspended from her teaching job, and she breaks up with Chris. She moves back to the island and in with her mother, starts working at her shop in town, and vows to start writing her novel. She and Joe talk about the past and start hanging out, and soon start having sex. As Anne tries to reconnect with the town she is from, she doesn’t know what her future will be, especially when Joe wants more. When fate intervenes, she just might have her answer about her future. This novel is based in part on Anne of Green Gables, and it’s a heartwarming book to read. You root for Anne and Joe to be together, along with a good supporting cast. The first good rom-com of the new year. They say you can’t go home again, but maybe, just maybe, you can.
