Camille Bayliss comes from a very powerful and rich family, and she has no idea how many illegal things they have done. She is married to Ben, a lawyer, who has a firm with his friend Hank. Ben is a control freak and controls Camille’s life. She is tired of it and knows he is up to something, so she sets a plan in motion to catch whatever it is he is doing. Aubrey Price lost her parents in a drunk driving accident years ago, and the person is in jail. When Camille finds Aubrey’s information in Ben’s briefcase, she pays her a visit, and the two end up with a plan to try and figure out what Ben is up to. Then Ben is found murdered, and everything is out the window. As we follow along with the story, it seems everyone has their own secrets, including who really killed Aubrey’s parents, and it leads to a shocking reveal as to who killed Ben. This is a twisty, soapy, well-written novel that you need a scorecard to keep track and keeps you on your toes. The first great psychological thriller of the year.
