Emilia McRoy is an ER Doctor in Seattle, who takes a DNA test, and finds she may have family that goes back to Scotland. When she finds a job advertised for a doctor, in a small Scottish town, called Sea Isle, she applies, gets the job, and moves there. The residents are happy to have a new doctor, she has a state-of-the-art office, and a place to live. On her first night there, she goes to the pub, and starts to meet the locals, and one a-hole, bitter older man, who has it a thing against McRoys’. She later finds his dead body, she thinks it’s a murder, the body vanishes, and she works with Ewan Campbell, the Constable, Mayor, and Laird of the Isle. Then the body shows up in the ocean, and she starts an investigation of her own. But someone doesn’t want her digging, and leaves notes for her to leave, and threatens her life, and the killer soon has her right where they want her. A really fun small-town murder mystery. The setting is great, Emilia is a fun character, and the supporting cast of quirky regulars adds to the story. With a potential romance, and backstory of her family, this series is off to a great start, with this debut novel in the series.
